“Her Letter”
Created for AudioFlux Circuit 06, whose theme was “creative tension,” this piece reveals my internal monologue when deciding how — or whether — to make audio work about family members (or others) who can no longer speak for themselves.
“The Prepack”
Recently, my 3-minute piece, “The Prepack,” was a finalist for AudioFlux Circuit 05, whose theme was “In 3D.” The prompt was to create a 3-minute audio piece inspired by one of four stereoscopic photographs. I selected the photograph of a display of luggage.
As luck would have it, when the Circuit 05 prompt was announced, I had just finished taking a short-audio class called Small Packages, led by Talia Augustidis and Jules Bradley. I submitted a first draft of “The Prepack” as my final class project. When I saw the AudioFlux prompt with luggage, I re-edited the piece, expanded it, and re-recorded many of the sounds for the AudioFlux submission.
I recorded all the sound at home and focused on creating an overall experience where the listener felt like they were in the room with me (and perhaps were even getting zipped up into the suitcase!). I hope you love listening to it as much as I loved making it.
